You may experience many types of ant problems such as Carpenter Ants, Flying Ants, Pavement Ants, Odorous House Ants, Cornfield Ants, False Honey Ants, and Little Black Ants. Although these pests are more of an annoyance since they are not damaging the structure of your home like Carpenter Ants, at Cooper we realize that you do not want these pests in your home!

Ants are considered to be the most successful and most abundant groups of insects on earth. For this reason, ants are the most commonly reported pest in both the home and workplace. Not only are ants the most common type of pest encountered, but they are also one of the most persistent pests. Although ants are frequently seen indoors, the majority of ant activity occurs outdoors where they forage on small insects and other small organisms.

Carpenter Ants: Carpenter Ants are a real concern for many homeowners in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They can cause damage to the wood that makes up your home and often will come back to the structure year after year. Carpenter ant problems can be difficult to control the first time, so you certainly do not want them to re-infest!

Since Carpenter Ants are social insects, their colonies are organized into complex societies with a division of labor among the different castes. The Carpenter Ant plays an important role in the environment by acting as major decomposers of dead or fallen trees within the forest. However, since they are very efficient destroyers of wood, they can become a very serious economic pest when they enter man-made structures.

Pavement Ants: Pavement Ants are very common  and it is not unusual to find them invading your home. Pavement ants are small dark brown or black in color and like to live under rocks or pavement. These ants often leave debris from their nests in sand-like piles near cracks or the edges of concrete slabs. These ants like sweets especially, but they will eat basically any food they can find. Pavement ants are harmless to you and your home, but they are considered a nuisance.

Odorous House Ants: Odorous House Ants are also relatively small and dark brown or black in color. They can be confused with pavement ants, but their most distinctive feature is the strong coconut or pine scent they give off when crushed. Odorous House Ants will nest almost anywhere. Their nests can be mobile and their large colonies will relocate or break into smaller colonies as needed, making them difficult to control. Like Pavement Ants, Odorous House Ants also like sweets (especially plant nectar and honeydew, which comes from aphids) and are harmless.

At Orion Pest Solutions, our expert technicians will easily identify your type of ant problem and quickly implement your ant solution. In most situations, ants can be controlled from the exterior of the structure with little or no treatment indoors. At Orion, our proven ant removal services focus on eliminating the colony that ants are originating from. This is why do-it-yourself products often make the problem worse since they do not address the source of the problem, the nest.
